Consolidation and Water Cutting

In the case of extremely poor geology and/or large volume water ingress, ground consolidation and water ingress reduction by chemical resins must be adopted immediately to ensure the safety and progress of tunnel excavation work. We not only provide injection resin products with the site application consultation when necessary, but also offer both the compact injection machines with digital printer & recorder, and advanced design of the injection conduits and tools.

The injection resin is prepared by mixing two components on site via 1.5 shot method, in which two types of resin are delivered through separate injection hoses and mixed by a static mixer inside the injection conduits for injection to the ground. Generally, the resin is composed of the special polyester as component A and a special formulated isocyanate as component B which is also called Polyurethane, i.e. PU. It used to be widely applied in the engineering field for water cutting applications and is designed with different chemical reaction characteristics. However, nowadays the newly developed injection resin contains both dosage A, composed mainly of water-glass (sodium silicate), and dosage B, a special poly-isocyanate. This new material, called Silicate Resin or SR for short, has successfully cut the cost down to 2/3 of the original cost.
